In this annual edition of our Global M&A 2021 Review and 2022 Outlook report, our risk and insurance experts provide insights and emerging trends on delivering the busiest year on record for this type of insurance.

What's inside the report

  • Premium increases
Premium rates have risen approximately 10‒15% due to the lack of capacity in the last quarter of 2021, mostly in small to medium sized transactions.
  • M&A providers likely to increase
With 20212 demand exhausting the capacity of the some 35 insurers offering M&A cover, we are likely to see some new entrants and specialisms in the 2022 market.
  • Broader cover availability
Few sectors are outright uninsurable now. Financial institutions, mining, construction and high-tech deals are being regularly covered.
  • More specialised policy offerings
The report predicts that although synthetic warranty and indemnity (W&I) cover is slightly more expensive and require sell side cooperation they may become more common in 2022.
  • Claims service increasingly important
As the percentage of claims and notifications have increased clients are placing greater focus on insurers' claims handing experience.
